One of the locations where the ancient Sarashina County Seat was thought to have been situated.
Nearby is the venerable Takemizuwake Shrine and the remains of Shaguji Shrine, and various remains of buildings and Buddhist artifacts have been unearthed.
These are signs that Yawata was on the crossroad with the Tosando Road on to the ancient capital in Kyoto.
