Legendary Locale
1,252m tall mountain located on the left bank of the Chikuma River.
Known throughout history as Obasute-yama, the legendary mountain where old people were carried to be thrown away, it gained fame through being referenced in a classic poem.
During the Edo Period a shrine dedicated to the god Tsukiyomi no Mikoto was built on the summit.
