The Oike Hamlet at the top of the Obasute Rice Terraces holds a festival every year on August 16 where 108 straw torches are lit in honor of Princess Komatsu of the Matsushiro Domain.
The Oike reservoir and Obasute terraces were developed under Matsushiro rule.
